Paris Auto Show - 2010

At the 2010 Paris Auto Show next week, Ford is set to present two new versions of the next-generation 2011 Focus: a turbocharged ST hatchback and a wagon.

The ST is a sporty model that continues a performance legacy overseas, and for North America, it builds on the spirit of the long-gone but fondly remembered Focus SVT. The new Focus ST five-door hatchback will be turbocharged, producing 243-hp from its 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. Think of it as a Volkswagen GTI competitor. The new Focus will go on sale early in 2011, with the new ST following a year later.

The Focus wagon is more self-explanatory. Though its looks have won raves from various motoring media, it is not expected to be sold in the wagon-averse United States. In lieu of the Focus wagon coming to the United States, Ford spokeswoman Tara Martin told us that the company will bring the next generation of its Grand C-Max, a small minivan based on the new Focus.

Hatchbacks, wagons, and small minivans are often practical, efficient packages. And we look forward to seeing and testing more of them on these shores.
