How Do I Retrieve My Car After Shipping It?

In most cases, your car shipping company provides door-to-door transport, which means they will deliver your vehicle to your home or your place of business (whichever you prefer). Door-to-door transport is how most consumer-owned vehicles are shipped.

However, door-to-door transport may not work for you. Below are two instances where you will need to look at other options:
1) No car carriers are permitted on your street. This can be the case if the street is too narrow, the HOA does not permit large trucks, or numerous other reasons. In this situation, you will be contacted by the driver of the car carrier when he arrives and you can agree on a nearby meeting place, such as a parking lot, where the car carrier can park.
2) You are not able to meet the car carrier for the delivery. If you cannot schedule a delivery date for when you are at the final destination, then you will need to have your vehicle delivered to a terminal.
A terminal is a storage facility for vehicles. Your vehicle is delivered to a terminal near your final destination and you can pick it up at your convenience. However, there is typically a daily storage charge. You should discuss any terminal costs with your car shipping company.
