Avalon, Highlander and Lexus GS, IS recalling for brake concerns

Toyota has announced that it will recall 740,000 vehicles sold in the United States like Avalon, Highlander and Lexus GS, IS due to concern that a brake-fluid leak from brake cylinder could reduce stopping power. The impacted vehicles include:
  1. 2005-2006 Avalon
  2. 2004-2006 Highlander
  3. Lexus RX 330, and 2006 Lexus GS 300, IS 250, and IS 350.
Toyota explains that its brake-fluid leak from brake cylinder in these vehicles uses lubricating polymers. If replacement fluid does not contain such a master cylinder seal could dry up and curl, polymers allow potential leak to occur. Should the fluid run low, a brake caution lamp should illuminate on the instrument panel and then alerting the driver. As the fluid level decrease, the brake pedal may feel soft to the driver and stopping distances can increased.
